FOUR OF SPADES: TALOS
Artificial beings, manmade people of metal and circuits. The Spade series were designed by the brilliant Queen of Spades, a notorious black market cyberdoctor and underground technologist, an enemy of the state in the eyes of most world powers. They are highly sophisticated, distinctive in their relatively lifelike natures and sentience.
PLACE OF BIRTH
His mother (Edyth Lostetter)
His siblings the Spades
Especially his twin sister Wespy, and their elder brother Stark, with whom he shares his life
Talos, or at least the principles behind his systems, was designed originally during Edyth's tenure under Lance Standerr. He came about later, but the systems themselves were experimental at the time, things she was working on under the purview of aeronautics and weapons technology. Some of his principles were built into her own bodies, but he never became a full android in his own right until later, once she'd left her former lover.
He was made as a warrior, intended as a weapon to push her technological expertise to its limits in his design and construction. For half of his creation, he was intended as a supplement to the Kostran rebels, but they hated her - and edyth gave up on that particular goal. For her own protection Stark was sufficient, and to create another to supplement or worse replace him was a disservice to her eldest son, so she made Talos and finished him only when she began work on the seventh of her androids, later.
Talos protects her. That was his intended purpose. And he knows it too - it was what he was designed for, but the motivation had to belong to Talos himself, Vespeheim's twin brother. Talos was completed almost a year before Wespy, and watched her being designed and built. He grew up watching her go from an idea to a reality. It is upon his appearance that her own was based. She is a part of him, part of everything he is.
Wespy's first sight was of Talos. The first thing she felt was his hand holding her own. Until then, it wasn't really real to him. How could she be his to protect? Who was he? When she opened her eyes and the first thing she said was his name, it all changed, it became fact. He never looked back. Her big brother has faith in his purpose, and hasn't gotten involved in the organized crime aspect of his mother's work except where Wespy is concerned. When she sent her children away, when she decided, he wasn't surprised - and took Wespy and Stark's hands.
Talos had to help raise Wespy, and that's affected him. He seems lazy - overwhelmingly so, going to incredible lengths to seem at ease, to be kind of a comic relief sort of person: he cracks a joke when things are serious (often the horrible kind of joke that ISN'T FUNNY SO LAME ARGH) puns, dad jokes, wisecracks - and can almost always make Wespy giggle. And that's the idea. He had time to grow up a bit - and she should, too, even if things are tight and the world they live in is frightening.
Nobody cares more than Talos about his sister. You'd just have to know him well to see just how much this is the case. Spades need sleep - he doesn't get as much of it as he needs, because he's helping Stark in the wee hours of the morning get the money she needs for her projects and the things she likes, or working odd jobs in whatever town they're in. He picks up small jobs on the side - part time stuff, errands, works himself hard while keeping it from his siblings. He thus always seems tired - napping on the side when he can get away with it, with almost catlike ease.
Nobody knows Talos as well as his quiet elder brother. Though they don't get along perfectly, there is a father-mother dynamic between them, an understanding that is the basis of a bond deeper than mere brotherhood. They love Wespy. They love each other. They need to stick together, and the most important thing in their partnership to raise Wespy is that she gets to make her own decisions, that she gets a chance to be her own person.
It's hard to get on his bad side. Petty insults don't work, stupid jokes crack him up too, even attacking him is received with 'meh'. But threaten his sister though, and his smile fades, his hands ball into fists, and you're in mortal danger. He'll try to destroy you. He'll be ruthless, play on your expectations of him, and make sure you know his fury before you breathe your last. Truth is, he's the most intelligent of his siblings. He works the hardest, he trains the hardest, he fights the hardest. Until it's needed, these facts are invisible - and that's 100% intentional.
Akise Aru (Mirai Nikki)
Talos looks androgynous, as masculine as he is feminine. With his longer hair and wispy build, he looks as natural in trousers as he would in a dress, and that's just how he do. He prefers softer fabrics and more feminine textures than most guys do, and though he doesn't usually wear makeup, he helped Wespy (and stark lol when he was sleeping) learn how to use it, and on occasion he'll wear it himself. He is a guy - readily embraces that - but quite simply he doesn't give a dogshit 9 times out of ten - and it shows. Despite wearing somewhat girly clothing, he's something of a slob. Frequently stained, usually wrinkly, his clothes are well used and well loved, mended by his hands and reused again and again. Again, that's just how he do.
He has a head of snowy platinum blonde hair that grows to his chin, rarely restrained. He can be seen frequently in a bluejean coat with a fur collar, tight girl jeans, and a tank top/tee shirt / polo, usually with an emblem from one of wespy's favorite shows or a company logo of a place he works at. He frequently smells of laundry detergent, candle wax, wespy's latest perfume / cooking / whatever experiment, and gasoline.
The kid smiles easily, in a lazy almost sleepy kind of way, easygoing and lackadaisical, unhurried by the rigors of life. He frequently leans, reclines, and dozes like a cat. See him at his best and most relaxed, and he's dozing near Wespy or helping her do something. See him at his worst and he cannot sit still, every line of his body twanging with tension even as he continues to recline and laze about. Ever seen someone nap angrily? Brood while sleeping? Yeah.
Talos likes to dress comfortably.
Talos drives their Mobivan, a converted industrial flying van transport they use as a home and a getabout. It's technically his - Stark can't drive, the brothers agree Wespy is too young, and Talos is the only one who actually knows how to use it. It's custom made, and spacious inside - enough to more or less fit their needs.
Talos carries some of the Biosupplements Wespy made with him, with everything he needs to survive in one capsule.
Frequently, Talos has condiments, perks from his job, and treats. Count on it.
Like his brother, a ghostline smartphone is in his back pocket.
Like all Spades, and most of Edyth's creations, he has a bomb in his chest that has the capacity to utterly destroy him. He can trigger it himself, but there are other, very specific conditions that can set it off. It mostly just destroys him, with little damage to the world around him - a surprising fact, given the ferocity with which it goes off and how completely it destroys him.
All skill, baby
Talos is good at fighting. He was born talented, with all the accumulated combat data of his siblings. Even Stark doesn't have all that. But Talos has stark's data, that's for sure. On top of that, he uses his recuperative time to run simulations, to constantly train.
He is good at protecting people. He's always close to his mark - it's a talent, and an artform for him.
Talos is a hell of a cook. Not... Like, fine, but he can make stuff that tastes really good, and hits the spot just right. It's primarily Rodin and Ezian cuisine, heavily influenced by western Rodin cookery of hearty stews and cured or candied foods, and its closely-neighboring Ezian seafoods and breads. If you had to characterize it, it'd be an italian-slavic fusion style of cookery.
Talos has no ki, and doesn't show up at all to senses that detect energy.
In his palms, like his elder brother.
A deadly, high intensity blue eye laser made all the more dangerous because of its efficiency. He can use this ALOT before even noticing a difference in his power levels - making it a very versatile attack form.
Bronze Sword Mode
Not a literal sword, but a weapons system built into him and an homage to his namesake. He is surrounded in a golden aura that roars with green flame. This energy field is a sword and a shield, offering him some protection, some ability to directly contest his strength against dangerous energy attacks for example, but also making him dangerous to touch, able to selectively excite things he touches to superheat them in seconds. A chop with his naked hand thus becomes able to slash like a sword, so intense is that heat. In essence, he can make his body behave like a lightsaber! Here's the catch though - it's hard! It's not efficient - prolonged use will deplete his power supply, and to activate it is a deliberate action - one he must exert effort to accomplish.
Storm God Drive
An experimental flight system that uses plasma pulse repulsion, generating lightning to defy gravity and produce thrust. It was sidelined because its inefficient, but it is an awesome system used in bursts, both to move faster than flight, and further than flash step while simultaneously attacking - as lightning strikes lash out from him to nearby grounding points, like... a person! He can use it at low intensities to achieve normal flight and in bursts to flash step.
Using his repulsers from the Storm God drive in a focused, prolonged assault does few things any favors, rapidly heating and driving back what he hits, bombarding them with searing beams of focused lightning and pure concussive force.
Though he is not biological, effects that work on a biological life form to heal or aid also work on him. He recovers naturally at a respectable rate, nearly four times faster than a human being would, all because of special circuits built into his form that carefully mimic a living being's metabolism. He needs to eat and drink in exchange, but that's hardly a chore.
We Can Rebuild Him
ut simply, Edyth can put humpty dumpty back together again. He can be reborn, fully formed, by her craft - and improved from data obtained in combat, making him stronger, much as a saiyan. There is nothing that can be done to prevent this apart from Edyth's death or decision not to remake him - if he dies, he can be rebuilt, it's as simple as that.
