A PARADISE AWAY FROM HOME.
Ages ago, humanity left Earth for the stars. Eventually, they found a paradise: Eden. And on that paradise were the Juins. In time, the colonization of Eden by humanity lead to a war between humans a Juins. In the end, the Juins lost. Hundreds of years later, Juins are secluded on their own continent and humans make up the majority of Eden's population. But over the past few years, strange occurrences were noticed all over the world. People were seen flying in the skies.

Colorful grass, lush, green trees, fresh air with a coastal breeze; there was absolutely nothing about their current presence in Liebe that wasn't breathtaking and wonderful. At least, not from a touristy standpoint. Being someone who, ever since he arrived on Eden, hadn't even left Raverita, the sight of Ai was something he would've loved to soak in under better circumstances. After all, the glory of nature would've been a hell of a lot more enjoyable without the smoke, fire, and screams serving as their backdrop.
But with them having a task to do, sitting back in this quaint, little town to fight these guys wasn't really an option. And with the old man leading the way, the Saiyan opted to follow as he began to lead the group deep into the forest. One of his groupmates used some sort of ability to warp the light around them to render them all invisible. Good plan, he thought, and it saved them from having to figure out a way to make sure everyone could stay out of sight long enough to get to where they were heading.
That was, until Gokan picked up on the spike of ki coming from the town. He paused--not long enough to break from the circle of invisibility--and glanced back. Now that he was paying attention, it wasn't too hard for him to pick up on the excessive signs of combat. From what he could tell, at least one person was knee deep in some carnage with the barbarians. The former monk took note of those he was with, focusing on how their ki felt, and then immediately turned around to face the town.
"You guys go on ahead, I'll find you!" With that, Gokan took off in a full sprint toward the town.
He ignited his aura and surged his power before he took one massive leap into the sky to drive his knee square into the helmet and face of a Kagzran. The steel crumpled as easily as one would've expected, and Gokan used his perched position to roundhouse kick the woman's partner out of the sky. Momentum was redirected to aid the Saiyan in slingshotting himself toward the ground and an old man who was knee deep in battling the Kagzran,
His aura in full forced a powerful Genshihou down on the unsuspecting foes, blowing away three before he hit the ground in a tuck and roll that lead him to his feet and into a vicious uppercut that sent another flying. "You looked like you could use some help," The Saiyan proclaimed as his eyes darted back and forth as he took a mental count of just how many enemies they were dealing with.
No way in hell the two of them would make it out of here easily, especially if the old man had been fighting these guys for an extended period of time. They needed a way out and a distraction. Gokan had both, but it'd take a few moments. "I hope you're not too banged up. The others went on ahead, I stayed behind to help put out this fire."
One of the quicker recovering Kagzran flew toward Gokan with spiked knuckles and unleashed a flurry of punches toward him. A few quick dodges and a solid sternum punch send the enemy flying, but they managed to dig their heels into the ground and eventually slow their backward movement enough to where they could eventually regain their balance.
"I hope you're prepared to run once you see the cue." As Gokan's ki began to build, he'd make sure t hat the cue was obvious, and fast. The longer they stayed behind, the greater danger they would be in. It wouldn't be long before the full force of the Kagzran came down on this small town, and them.
On the plus side, it made things easier for the others sneaking through the forest.
As the Oracle began to lead the way thanks to her tracking device, a series of events unfolded that the old man didn't expect - one of those teenagers mustered up some sort of illusion to hide them from sight was the first. Zam had to admit, he was impressed by the feat, expecting that the group would have to utilize cover, speed, and practical distractions to remain hidden long enough to get where they needed to be.
Not being able to be seen was a hell of a lot better than that. "Kid, I'm old as shit; there's nothing you can do that'll freak me out." After all, their planet being invaded by seemingly medieval aliens was freakier than someone 90 years his junior doing some optical tricks, even if they were useful.
After that was done, the Saiyan Kaio-Ken turned and hauled ass back toward the town, heading to assist the random source of ki that appeared to be in combat with the Kagzran. Zam didn't like the fact that he ran off--alone or otherwise--knowing that the kid would be more than useful should something happen while they moved through the forest, even though he understood why he ran off. Leaving someone behind like that wasn't what the Guardian wanted to do, and if it weren't due to the circumstances they were under, Zamael would've been the first one there.
Instead of worrying, Zam picked up the pace as they pressed further into the forest, glancing over toward the Oracle as he sped up. "What does your little monitor say? Can you see how close we are yet?"
Though the distance between them and the town they left to its own devices had been extended greatly, a large part due to the light bending illusion that they moved under. Had it not been for... wait, what was is name again? It was just then that Zam recalled that he really didn't know who any of these people were, yet they all banded together in the interest of saving the world. If things weren't so dire, he'd chuckle about how much of a jackass he was in that regard, but they had things to do.
They were a ways away by this point, but the sounds of a steadily intensifying, no doubt caused by the arrival of the Saiyan to aid whomever it was fighting within the town. The rapid and consecutive spikes of ki was a sign that things were still going favorably for them, and that took some weight off of the Guardian for leaving them behind. If they weren't so fragmented and so outnumbered, he would've joined them.
And as one would expect, the roaming Kagzran also picked up on the signs of the battle and began to converge on the small town. "Stop," the old man said softly as he gestured for those he were with to quit running. The Guardian then pointed off to their right, where there were a handful of the barbarians traveling through the forest, no doubt on their way back to the town.
Sure, they could proceed, but he didn't want to risk them somehow seeing the through the illusion or hearing the noise of their travels, especially since the Oracle confirmed that they were getting close. And as a plus, the teen providing the illusion got a break. Zam had no idea how much longer he would be able to keep it up, but not having to sprint while doing it was probably easier on him. So they'd pause, wait for the barbarians to move along, and let the kid catch his breath all at the same ti--....
There was a flutter of movement right in between the group, and Zam paused, his body tense. Eden's Guardian glanced to follow the source of the movement, only to see that they too, paused, and then slowly turned around and walked the fifteen feet they crossed in an eye flutter.
But they didn't; their bodies crossing into the bent light, revealing the illusion from the inside.
Zam unleashed two hail marry punches as a result, and the Kagzran went flying.
He didn't want to, but he had to. They were a half-second away from having hell brought down on them anyway, might as well get the first punch themselves.
There was a tingle in the back of his spine as the Saiyan narrowly avoided being decapitated; hairs fleeing his head as he ducked the strike. And as he pivoted to deliver a thunderous kick to the mid section of the axe wielding bug-like humanoid who attempted to kill him and then pushed himself off the ground in the same rotation, going upward and ending his trip with a solid knee to the the barbarians face to send his attacker flying into others and out of view.
Though he didn't exactly know way, Gokan had a sense of euphoria as he was fighting. Why, he didn't know, but compared to the dire situations of his last encounter with these Kagzran warriors, the Saiyan was a lot less worried about getting maimed.
He seemed to have a far easier time dealing with them, as well.
Though they came at him from all sides, bobbing and weaving around weapons, countering moves he couldn't outright avoid, and using their weapons against them was all fair play. Though compared to some of the others, including the old man who helped the former monk bat people away within the small town, he wasn't actually killing anyone. Causing grievous injury to where even their incessant shouting and crazy red ki couldn't get them to muster up the willpower necessary to stand back up, sure, but nothing permanent. It was the one thing he couldn't bring himself to do even though these guys wouldn't have hesitated to kill him.
He learned that the hard way already.
The fact that he was holding back, even ever so slightly, cost him more than a few times. Though he was performing better than last time, getting smashed into the ground or rocked through an overturned car was just as common for him as it was for the barbarians he spent time assaulting, but he clawed his way back each time; slightly dustier, but back on his feet.
And ultimately, he was fine with that and spent a good portion of his time shifting to entirely different targets each time he knocked someone away or was knocked away, aiming to get as much aggro as he could. All the while, as his aura flared, he was focusing his ki. The kagzran likely didn't notice with the bulk of them running on single minded destructive aggression, but it was likely the old man did.
The sheer shifting of ki in the environment was more than enough to catch anyone's attention of they were capable of being aware of it.
And as Gokan fought to attract the attention of his foes, the ground around him began to shimmer ever so slightly in a significantly large radius around the Saiyan. Right around the same time he got axehandled through a small storefront, in fact. As soon as his body bounced through the concrete and plaster wall and back outside, he tucked, rolled, and flipped back up to his feet with his hands at his side, immediately forming and firing off his Genshihou toward his attackers. This was followed up by a series of jerky movements to shift the flight of the ki attack, corralling as many of this idiots within the circle as he could.
Then his flared his aura and activated Kaio-Ken; the drastic increase of his own power immediately had a positive effect on the collective ki he'd sourced, and then he turned in the direction of the older warrior. "Run! Now!"
Gokan threw his arms out and his aura seemed to be sucked away from his body, snuffed out like a flame in the wind. immediately afterward, the young Saiyan reactivated the Kaio Surge and took off running toward the old man, with the ultimate goal of moving past him and out of town toward the others.
Because Gokan just coaxed a shit ton of barbarians into a localized area and caused it to literally rain down a continuous volley of ki attacks down on the lot of them. He didn't catch all of them in the attack--no way in hell he was that powerful--but there was more than enough to put a damper on their attacks and cause a sizable distraction among the others.
It was enough to cover their escape and allow them to catch up with the others. While he would've rather stay and fight, sheer numbers weren't in their favor if they stayed.
And with any luck, when the Kagzran recovered, they'd be angry enough to leave town and search for their attackers, sparing any surviving civilians from more harm.
Sure, he was a crotchety old fart, but Zamael a tough, crotchety old fart. The small group of theirs was quickly overrun by the Barbarians once their illusion was broken, but so far, the group wasn't doing too bad.
He thought that even after taking an uppercut that launched him through the air. Chalk that one up to old age.
As the warrior aimed to follow up with her strike by ramming her spear into Zam's face, Eden's Guardian gestured rapidly, circulating the air around the flying woman to spin and disorient her; a momentary distraction for him to shatter her sternum with a solid knee strike. As she groaned, the elderly fighter continued to let loose on her, delivering a flurry of punches and knee strikes before ending the brief skirmish by forearm striking her with enough force to launch her into several of her allies.
It wasn't a death strike, however. That came when he used Hogosha Waza: Jishin. The ground rumbled and split beneath the pile of barbarian fighters before exploding, peppering them with stone shrapnel. He probably didn't kill all of them, but they wouldn't be bothering the lot of them any time soon.
Once he touched down on the ground, Zam unleashed his Kaiohameha several times. Kagzran were hit, Kagzran dodged. Either way, they were moved, and the group continued to beat them away and push forward. And with all signs pointing toward them nearing their destination, the sooner the better.
Zam became slightly distracted when he felt a bombardment of ki back in the town--originating from the Saiyan, surprisingly--that almost gave a Barbarian an opening to cleave his head off. But a quick refocus and surging of his ki allowed the Guardian to literally punch through the sword, down to its hilt. Quick kick to the knee to throw the barbarian off balance, palm strike to the stomach, elbow to the back of the head. And as the Kagzran fell, they were immediately snap frozen in a shroud of ice.
And as he turned back toward the fight, Zam narrowly dodged a stray shot, not from one of their enemies, but by someone off in the distance, an Arcuul. She was currently blasting away at the Barbarians, holding them at bay more than she was fighting them outright.
She was protecting someone. "We're getting close; let's move!" His aura flaring, Zam took off like a bolt of lightning, bouncing from Barbarian to Barbarian, delivering blows to floor and clear the way for everyone to catch up.
And then he saw her float up from behind some rocks she used as cover; orange hair, lavender skin. She had a sort of glow about her that was beyond anything he'd seen in his life. it was unnatural.
Was this woman Keya? She had to be, nothing else could explain it.
And as he stood, Zam was in awe. His aura immediately faded and his voice began to tremble in shock.
"Oh my God, it's God!" The man blurted.
It wasn't every day you got to see a Kaioshin in person.
By time that they were clear of the town, the smoke and dust resulting from Gokan's Ki Rain was still bellowing into the the sky, a likely bonus when it came to obscuring the vision of the barbarians and hiding their movements, providing enough clearance for their travel toward the others to be practically undisturbed.
Which was quite refreshing, since the Saiyan couldn't remember the last time he'd actually ran this fast. He was going to feel all of this shit later should they actually survive this chaos long enough to even have a later. And as Gokan and the old man rushed foward, they were able to quickly catch up to the general area of where the others were--he could tell by the barbarians flying every which direction--and it was a good, hopeful sign that they were all still alive.
Though one of them was straggling behind; the same kid who kept them invisible.
Whether it was due to power or inexperience, the teenager couldn't keep up with the Guardian or the one the Guardian referred to as an Oracle, And given how straining keeping up the illusion must've been, the former monk figured that fatigue was likely a factor, and with as quickly as the Kagzran were coming up on him, fighting them solo would've been a fools errand.
It was a good thing the young man had backup.
As the teen created some sort of earthen creature, the Saiyan zoomed into the picture, delivering a vicious dropkick to one of the axe wielding barbarians that didn't end up with their weapon stuck in the animated stone. Three other Kagzran immediately rush him, forcing Gokan to sidestep a downward sword strike, hop over a spear thrust, and then block a deadly mace strike with his forearms while still in midair.
Fortunately, his current level of power was more than enough to stop the mace dead in its tracks without being tossed aside. And in a fluid motion, Gokan batted away the weapon and brought his arms down to his side before gathering a sizeable amount of ki and launching his Genshihou outward, blasting away the attackers with his ki. "Take a breather for a second, we got you!" Gokan exclaimed to the teen, "We're not dying today!"
